The Garage
My garage is somewhat tiny but that's what I have to work with for the time being! You can read all about it here!

I am sure you have realized by now that my master plan is to transform my Durango into the ultimate personal exploration vehicle. Something that I can drive out of my driveway, go 1000 miles over highway, turn off onto a dirt road and go another 50 miles into the back country away from everybody else. No trailers to unhook, no stops, nothing to fix before hitting the trail; a stand alone vehicle that can take the family anywhere I want it to.

While all the modifications I make and plan on for my Dodge Durango are in the majority purpose driven, I also try to add a touch of my personal style to it. I have a very distinct vision of what I want my Durango to resemble. I am always excited when I find the time to wrench on my Durango, fixing and building things for it... all that kind of grease monkey guy stuff will take place here, in The Garage.

One of my primary goals is to integrate into my Durango special abilities, like a Recovery & Support Vehicle offers because I have been stuck in remote areas and it sucks when no one is around to help out.

I would like to be able to practically recover my self or help someone else out if stuck.
I will be integrating multiple system which give me the capability of communicating emergency needs when a disaster hits. It's a slow, labor intensive, and somewhat costly project, but it's getting there. If all works out, my Durango will be able do all that, without sacrificing the comfort while travelling on-road.

Let's get started with the Garage, which I have divided in multiple categories for ease of browsing.

The next Garage project will be...

Injectors and aluminum fuel rails for a starving Magnum!
I have made so many upgrades to my Magnum engine and now it is starving for fuel. As soon as I hit the pedal and reach above 4000 rpm, I can feel that the engine just needs more fuel. I talked with a few guys which really do know their stuff about engines (one of the guys is a repeat contender in the Engine Masters Challenge) and pretty much everyone came to the same conclusion that I need larger injectors! I am currently running 19 lbs. injectors and I will be switching over to 24 lbs. injectors and plan on machining some nice aluminum fuel rails to match while I am at it. I may also have to deal again with a re-program/adjustment of the PCM. Stay tuned!

What's recently happening in the Garage?

04-28-2010 E3 Spark Plugs!
The Dodge Durango spark plug is designed to last between 60,000 and 100,000 miles. The Dodge Factory Service Manual states one should only replace the spark plugs with a copper electrode with the same heat range and number as on the original plugs installed in the SUV to ensure safe operation of the vehicle. That sounds great for a stock engine and somebody who is not an enthusiast! In my case, I am ready for some new plugs especially because I was just made aware of these new E3 spark plugs by watching the Horsepower TV show. Read more...

04-12-2010 LED Backup Lights!
Leaving at night from my friends house and having to back out from his long driveway in the middle of winter was no fun!
I couldn't see a d... thing and the fact that I almost took out his mailbox, made me to look into a better lighting solution for the rear.
This is how that project got started...
Go and check it out!

02-03-2010 Engine Oil & Filter change!
Yep, 3000 miles are up and this means for me that an Engine Oil and Filter change is on my to-do-list asap. This time around I will give the lately often talked about Royal Purple Oil a try. Some have stated small horse power gains just from using this pure synthetic oil.

5 quarts of Royal Purple Oil and
a Mopar Performance filter
We sure will see if that's a myth or the truth. It's good oil neverless.
It's all here in the new General Maintenance Section!

01-09-2010 Taylor Plug Wires
The 10.4mm Spark Plug Wire Kit made by Taylor has been installed.

These are some beefy wires and they do look awesome together with the billet separators from Vision Motorworks!
It's all right here.

01-04-2010 The Hughes Intake Manifold Project!
I have finished the install of the the new Hughes Airgap Intake Manifold kit which didn't dissapoint and which increased my horsepower quite a bit in conjunction with the large throttle body I also recently added. My truck is an alltime AWD so I didn't get better milage, but that's OK.

I usually purchase only Mopar Performance parts, but the Hughes Intake is a much better solution for me then the M1 Mopar Intake would have been because the M1 produces the extra power only at higher RPM's.

Hughes FI Airgap Kit
This intake has been designed by Hughes Engines and was manufactured by Edelbrock specifically for the Dodge Magnum engine. This entire project including lot's of pictures made during the install is available in the Garage section. Check it out right here!
